Psalm 37:25; I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
I took time to meditate on this sacred statement of King David and with the help of the Holy Spirit, I was able to discern that David was revealing a truth that the life of a man consists of two distinct states.
The first state is the state he described as young, suggesting youthfulness and strength.
David also described another state of his life which he described as old suggesting weakness and vagueness.
Every man created by God (male & female) that God exempts from premature death; most assuredly must go through this two states.
Listen, you are a youth today, you will not remain a youth forever. Your days of youthfulness are timed as you must gradually but surely slip into the old and spent state.
I pray for you that you will not die prematurely in Jesus Name.
And if you are one of the persons who have said amen to my prayers, I have some thought-provoking questions for you:
How will you spend your old frail years?
What will life reserve for you as you slip into the weakest state of your life?
In pondering on these two questions, I want you to appreciate and realize that the old and latter end of our lives will be for us the harvest of our life investments during our youthful days.
Nothing good will await any old man when he did not do good in his youthful days.
Any youth who does not invest his/her strength to be diligent, hardworking and focused will succeed in reaping hardship and penury at the latter stage of his/her life.
My point is this, you can actually determine with the help of God how you want to spend the latter years of your life.
Today, the Lord wants to speak to the youths of this country.
The current demographic statistics of our great country show that 60% of the population of Nigeria fall within the youth band yet, we find it difficult to say with confidence that our youths are the leaders of tomorrow.
Because a huge percentage of people engaging in kidnapping are youths
A huge percentage of people involved in cultist and militant activities killing and maiming lives are youths
A huge percentage of our female folks engaging in prostitution are youths.
If you took samples of people involved in electoral violence, proponents of boko haram and other violent insurgents, you will find out that a huge percentage are youths.
With this current dismal statistics of horror, we should be very worried as a people and ponder on the kind of future we are living behind for the generations to come.
Reiterating the Words of David again, the bible says: Psalm 37:25 – I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread
The only set of people who journey through life and escape shame, disappointments and penury are the righteous people.
If we shall not as a nation live our lives as servants to other nations, our youths must tow the path of righteousness and seek God in every ramification of life.
The bible says in Proverbs 20:29 The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head.
But the youth that does not honour God with his strength will receive his/her grey hair not with beauty, but with bitterness.
This is a clarion call for the Nigerian youth. Youths that will win more souls for God that will take over the helms of affairs of this country and rule with the scepter of righteousness and true justice. Youths who are not thinking of stealing or defrauding government but are ready to work hard and do the right thing.
The Good Lord will raise you as that youth with a difference in Jesus Name. Till I come your way again…
