Genesis 25:28 And Isaac loved Jacob because he did eat of his venison; but Rebekah loved Jacob.
There is no better way to explain the kind of love Isaac as a father showed to his son Esau. The bible reveals to us that Isaac loved Esau because he did eat of his venison. Thus, Isaac’s love for Esau was hinged on something. But, the bible also described the love Rebekah had for her son Jacob. The bible says in the same verse of scripture, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
Question: why did Rebekah love Jacob? Answer: Rebeka loved Jacob for no reason.
Rebekah loved Jacob not because of anything. She just loved Jacob.
This to me is what I call unconditional love.
Unconditional love describes love in its true and purest form. It is the kind of love God expects us to show to each other as the children of the kingdom.
When we take a look at our world today, you will find out that unconditional love is becoming very scarce to get. The kind of love we see today is the type Isaac showed to Esau.
Today, we see a woman love a man and is willing to be his wife because he gives her money and buys her clothes and other goodies. So when the flow of money stops, that is the end of the love relationship. That is not unconditional love.
Today, we see a man give a lady money, not because he is willing and happy to help the lady out of our dire situation, but because he wants to take advantage of her to defile her. That is evil.
Everyone who gives you something, somehow at the back of his/her mind wants something else in return, if not immediately, most definitely in the nearest future.
Unconditional love has now been transmuted into Love for sale.
For many, unconditional love is now seen as trade by batter.
I still cannot imagine some who says he wants to help you but would not be satisfied with a heart-felt thank you.
Now we hear and are made to believe dangerous and wicked statements such as:
Nothing goes for free.
True Love is dead!!!
Unconditional love is the type Christ modeled for us. The bible says Romans 5:8 – But God commendeth His love towards us; in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
This is great! Even in our filth and spiritual dirtiness, bible says Jesus did not mind, he came and died for you and me. He died for the whole world.
Take advantage of this kind of love. Don’t show love because you expect something in return, show love because Love found you.
Till I come your way again, I want you to be a reflector of His Divine image, a carrier of his power and an ambassador of the righteousness of Christ in this sinful world. Remain blessed and bye for now
